Just one active water main break remains in Prince Rupert as the City heads into the 6th day of a local state of emergency.
Crews completed repairs on the Crestview Drive and 7th Avenue East mains yesterday, with only the break on 1st Avenue East remaining active.
With the repairs to the Crestview main completed, the City will no longer need to reroute their water supply to avoid the break.
One additional water service break yesterday brings the active total on the City-side to 9, with 5 more known breaks on the homeowner side.
Crews continue to work round the clock to repair the active leaks, while also preparing for the possibility of more as temperatures begin to warm up.
Residents are asked to run their taps at a slow drip to prevent freezing, and to keep 4 Litres of water per resident in your household, in case of emergency.
As there is no active water quality advisory, it is perfectly safe to draw that water from your taps.
If you notice significantly reduced water pressure, but find no signs of a break in your home, contact the City at 250 624 6795, or at 250 624 3000 after hours.
