Skeena Sawmills has become the most recent major forestry company in BC to announce temporary curtailments to some of its operations.
All new log deliveries to the company’s Terrace-based facility will be put on hold for at least the next three weeks.
They will, however, be continuing sawmill and chipping operations through January, using the current on-site inventory.
According to a release from this morning, the curtailments are due to increased operating costs, limited fibre availability, and recent government policy changes.
They say they will re-evaluate the situation at the end of the month and determine at that time whether or not to re-open the log scales.
