The federal budget for 2023 is seeing Canada attempt new legislation surrounding technology.
According to the report, the government will work to introduce a right to repair.
That legislation if passed would make it easier for people to get their appliances and electronics repaired by preventing companies from roadblocking repairs with complex programming or bespoke parts.
Work with international partners and stakeholders will also be done to explore implementing a universal charging port.
According to the government, having a universal charging port will prevent electronic waste and lower costs.
The report also shows new digital and high tech projects like a $121 million project from Sanctuary Cognitive Systems Corporation that will boost Canada’s leadership in the Artificial Intelligence market.
