To support artists throughout the province, the BC Arts Council will distribute $34.5 million.
Through the province, $30 million of that will be distributed across 337 arts organizations while they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the province, the sector is dealing with a loss of audiences, increased costs, staffing shortages, and reduced sponsorships, memberships, admissions and space rentals.
Meanwhile, the remaining $4.5 million will be invested in the Arts Infrastructure Program to meet the need for art spaces that are safe, affordable, and accessible.
Of that funding, 7 projects on the northcoast will receive a total of $650,140 supporting organizations like the Bella Coola Valley Arts Council, Haida Gwaii Arts Council and the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council.
And in the Stikine, 5 projects will be splitting a total of $73,822 for groups like the Smithers Valley Youth Fiddlers, the Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council, and the Bulkley Valley Museum.
