Coastal GasLink has received four new stop work orders, as they continue to struggle with erosion and sediment control challenges.
Issued by the Environmental Assessment Office last weekend, the orders cover a 15 kilometre stretch of their 670 kilometre pipeline route.
Those come following inspections which uncovered activities in contravention to EAO requirements at four separate sites in Section 3.
Each are located near the Little Anzac River, just east of McLeod Lake, and each are related to erosion and sediment control issues which have impacted the watershed.
Under the orders, all work not intended to remedy the issues must cease until a follow-up inspection finds CGL is compliant.
But CGL says that they had already halted most activities at the sites, after receiving a non-compliance order for similar reasons last month.
In addition, they are pausing all non-critical construction work in Section 3 to dedicate additional crews to rectifying the on-going problems.
They say that the difficult terrain, combined with heavy winter snow, and recent rain and temperature spikes make the work more difficult.
An expert third-party review has been launched by CGL to examine their plans and identify any additional control measures.
