A new helicopter pad is in construction in Lax Kw’alaams.
Started on April 28, the construction is expected to last another 11 weeks.
Work currently underway includes final excavation of the site, forming and placing rebar, and installing electric conduits, all resulting in an expansion up to 3.5 metres.
As well, some new feaures will be added like a wind sock, camera pole, weather station, and backup generator.
Lax Kw’alaams band is asking to keep clear of the construction site and Bay Road area and advises the use of an alternate landing site at the Coast Tsimshian Fish Plant.
