Housing sales in the north through the first quarter of 2023 were nearly half of what they were over the same time period last year.
Through March 31st, the BC Northern Real Estate Board has reported 726 sales for a total of $269 million in the north.
That compares to 1,257 sales for a total of $495 million by the same date last year, continuing a downward trend in sales which began that quarter.
In Terrace, a total of 48 properties were sold for an average of $402,000 in the quarter, compared to 79 for $416,000 last year.
Prince Rupert saw 27 units change hands at an average of $414,000, down from 61 at $452,000 through Q1 of 2022.
31 sales were reported in Kitimat for an average of $325,000, compared to 46 for $352,000 through last March.
