New Provincial funding will help support people experiencing gender-based violence, and Indigenous people recovering from trauma across BC.
Each of the projects, which will also support crime-prevention initiatives, will receive roughly $40,000 in fresh funding.
In Terrace, funding will go towards Phase 3 of the Restorative Justice Program, supporting it’s standing as a regional hub.
It will also help the Women Education in Self Defense Training Society bring their programs to northwestern Indigenous communities, Terrace, and Vancouver.
Haida Gwaii’s Society for Domestic Peace gets support for a trauma-informed program to respond to rising cases of intimate partner violence.
In Smithers, the Dze L’Kant Friendship Centre Society will put their funding towards a cultural and social integration program for marginalized groups.
A holistic family healing and support program in Haisla will also receive support through the new funding.
