Coastal GasLink has been issued another set of stop-work orders covering five sections of their 670 kilometre pipeline route.
Each follow inspections which found CGL had failed to implement measures to prevent sediment laden water from reaching sensitive streams.
Two of the orders cover sections in the Upper Anzac watershed, east of McLeod Lake, between the pipeline’s 128 and 143 kilometre marks.
Another covers the 89-90 kilometre mark south of Chetwynd, and a fourth covers the 214 kilometre mark east of the Highway 97 crossing.
Much further west, the final order covers 8 kilometres in the Clore River watershed, beginning at the 600 kilometre mark, east of Kitimat.
Issued by the Environmental Assessment Office, the orders will remain in place until a follow-up inspections confirms compliance.
They pin the challenges on a difficult spring melt, and complex terrain, but say they have more than 700 workers focused on mitigation measures.
