All 18 Injured Passengers in Friday’s Camp Bus Crash Safely Released from Hospital, Union Says They Brought Concerns to Operators

All 18 passengers injured in a charter bus crash north of Prince George on Friday have now been safely released from hospital.

They were among 30 housekeepers making their way from the City to Coastal GasLink’s Parsnip Lodge work camp when the crash occurred.

But, the Union that represents them says the crash could have been avoided entirely if camp operator Horizon North had listened to their concerns.

Unite Here Local 40 had filed a grievance against Horizon earlier this year, after they decided to move all housekeeping staff out of the camp.

Instead, the company began bussing the workers to and from the site each day, adding a two hour, 120 kilometre commute each way.

Now, the Union is calling on Horizon to provide on-site housing for lodge workers, as required in their collective bargaining agreement.
