With drought conditions in the forecast across most of BC this summer, the Province is urging residents to conserve water.
Drought levels in the Skeena-Nass Basin are currently at level two on the Province’s five-stage drought warning system.
But, the Bulkley Lakes, Upper Fraser West, Parsnip, North Peace, and Haida Gwaii basins all sit at level 3.
Meanwhile, the Finlay, Fort Nelson and East Peace basins are currently at level four, where adverse impacts begin to become likely.
Those conditions were prompted by the hottest May on record which melted most of BC’s snowpack, meaning river levels are also likely to decline.
Residents are being asked to: limit outdoor watering, use less water during the hottest hours, take shorter showers, do laundry less frequently, and more.
Additional outdoor watering instructions are in place in many communities, including Terrace, and you should check with yours before watering.
