A team consisting of representatives for Ottawa, the province, and the Union of BC Indian Chiefs has released an energy and resources framework.
Launched last June, that team has been working to find ways of managing resources, and building a net-zero competitive economy.
And now, BC is the first of nine tables to release an outline on collaboration areas and actions to be pursued.
At the centre of the outline is considering First Nations input, especially regarding regulatory and permitting processes for clean growth projects.
Also included is advancing clean electricity infrastructure, particularly focusing on the North Coast, and BC’s commitment to join the Equal by 30 campaign.
In addition to that, the table announced $100 million of federal and provincial investments to build a clean and competitive economy.
That funding will be allocated to projects that relate to hydrogen and clean fuel production for equipment, capacity building, and feasibility studies.
Which is one of the six strategic focus areas that also include electrification, critical minerals, the forest sector, carbon management tech, and regulatory efficiency.
Moving forward, the table will include industry partners involved in those areas to collaboratively build plans that enhance economic opportunity.
