Environment Canada has put inland sections of the North coast under a heat warning until Sunday.
Expecting highs near 30 degrees and lows of about 15, the warning is in effect for Terrace and Kitimat.
While extreme heat can affect everyone, the risks are greater for pregnant women, young children, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses.
Warning is extended to those who work outside or are exercising.
Signs of heat illness to watch out for are swelling, heat rash, cramps, fainting, and the worsening of health symptoms.
Heat stroke is considered a medical emergency and should be treated by a medical professional.
In Terrace, if you’re in need of cooling, you can visit the Rotary Water Park from 10 am to 9 pm, or the Sportsplex from 2 pm to 4 pm for family activities.
Kitimat has their Chilko Wading Pool downtown and Heron Wading Pool uptown open from 12 to 5 pm through Saturday.
