An evacuation alert has been issued for properties in the Cedarvale and Woodcock areas.
Issued by the Regional Disrict of Kitimat-Stikine, the alert is being prompted by a 60 hectare wildfire burning just north of the Woodcock Airport.
It covers all properties on the north side of the Skeena River between the 8 and 23 kilometre marks of Cedarvale Road.
You can find more information on the alert at this link.
An evacuation alert is not a call to evacuate, but rather to prepare in case an order is issued.
Residents should pack essentials such as IDs and medicine, and make plans to move and meet family, pets and livestock if called to evacuate.
