Efforts to make the Lester Centre a bit more comfy for theatre-goers in Prince Rupert have gained the support of Ottawa.
An $85,000 grant has been provided through Heritage Canada in support of the Centre’s on-going Please Be Seated Project.
That aptly named project seeks to replace all 694 of the theatre’s seats for the first time since it was built back in 1987.
In January, the Centre launched their seat sale, which allows residents to purchase a new seat for $800, and take home one of the old ones.
Buyers will also have their names posted on a sign which will be installed in the entryway to the lower bowl seats.
So far the sale has raised over $30,000 and will remain open until November 30th.
Those interested in purchasing a seat should contact Chris Armstrong at 250 627 8888 or through e-mail at manager@lestercentre.ca.
