Guardian Watchmen from a pair of First Nations along the coast now share the same powers as BC Park Rangers on their land.
It saw the trio sign a memorandum of understanding which would see Guardians granted the same regulatory powers and authorities as rangers.
While the Nations are the original stewards of their land, they now finally, have the authority to undertake compliance and enforcement activities.
Guardians from the two Nations are being granted their official park ranger badges today, marking the beginning of a new era for coastal conservation.
