Work on the LNG Canada project in Kitimat has surpassed another major milestone after completing a hydrotest of their LNG storage tank.
In an effort to show the tank’s integrity, crews pumped it full of 170,000 cubic metres, or six Olympic swimming pools-worth of water.
Known as hydrostatic testing, the procedure is a critical step in ensuring tank safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
After four years of construction, the successful test marks the completion of what is now officially the biggest functioning storage tank in Canada.
It also paves the way for construction to enter the home stretch, as they move towards completion, planned for 2025.
