Two suspects of an early-morning carjacking in Quesnel remain on the lamb, after RCMP were forced to call off their pursuit due to speed.
Police responded to initial reports of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven on Maple Drive at around 2:46 this morning.
A pair of youths had been approached by a man and a woman, who presented a firearm before demanding they hand over their wallets and keys.
They would comply with the request, after which the suspects fled the scene in the youth’s grey 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.
Officers would later locate the vehicle, with licence plate SJ946R travelling down Plywood Hill.
But when police began their chase, the vehicle fled south on Highway 97 at ahigh rate of speed, forcing police to call of the pursuit in Kersley.
Both suspects were wearing black hoodies at the time, with the 6 foot male wearing a white dirt bike helmet, and the 5 foot 7 inch woman wearing a black mask.
Anyone who spots the vehicle or suspects is asked to contact 9-1-1 immediately.
