Some restrictions have been removed from a newly topped up funding program for ranchers and farmers in BC.
Delivered through the Beneficial Management Practices program, the funding follows over a month of extreme heat and drought conditions.
It aims to help producers better prepare for and mitigate the impacts of climate change, while continuing to support food security.
In addition to the $4 million top-up to the joint-Federal and Provincial program, caps on lifetime funding from previous years have been removed.
Funding can be put towards projects focused on waste management, air quality control, emissions, soil and riparian integrity, water quality, and more.
Due to the on-going dry conditions, this year’s funding can also be used for projects which pertain to water storage and conservation.
Only applicants who have completed an environmental farm plan will be eligible to receive funding.
