New provincial funding has been disbursed to help communities better prepare for more extreme temperatures.
Through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, more than $430,000 has been split between 10 communities.
Of those, Kitimat has received $60,000 to assist in heat mapping, and creating an assessment and response plan in partnership with the Haisla Nation.
The Kitasoo Xai’xais nation was given $30,000 to fund their Extreme Temperature Risk Assessment and Response Plan.
This funding installment adds onto the current $369 million that has already been invested in the program since 2017.
