The third stage of the University of Northern British Columbia’s Nechako River Basin Study has been launched thanks to fresh funding.
Through $800,000 in new funds, the Integrated Watershed Research Group will start phase 3 of the project that began in 2014.
Previous research analyzed impacts of climate change, land use, and wildfires on water temperatures and streamflows.
As well, the group has studied community and health issues and how to encourage integrative approaches to decision-making in the watershed.
The third phase has been funded through $400,000 from the Nechako Environmental Enhancement Fund and the remaining from various sources.
