A new economic development corporation is being launched by the Haisla Nation to help manage their growing portfolio of economic interests.
According to Council, who approved its creation last month, the corporation will play a key role in driving the Nation’s economic self-sufficiency.
It will serve as a focused body to ensure members benefit from the increased opportunities afforded to the Nation in recent years.
Developed in alignment with core Haisla values, the corporation will be rooted in accountability, transparency, and sustainability.
It will be guided by a five-member board, with those interested in joining asked to e-mail Lisa Grant at lgrant@haisla.ca for more info.
Nation members also have until Friday to submit a suitable name idea for the corporation which reflects Haisla culture.
Submissions are being accepted until Friday, with the winning contestant able to select from a range of prizes valued at over $1,000.
