Hospitality workers at the Parsnip Lodge, which houses crews working on the Coastal GasLink pipeline, have issued a 72 hour strike notice.
It comes after the 150 workers at the Prince George-based lodge represented by UNITE Here Local 40 voted 95 percent in favour of strike action.
With the lodge set to close for good this year, the workers are calling for three months of severance pay per year of service from employer Horizon North.
If a strike is to occur, the pipeline project would almost certainly face delays, with no other camp able to match Parsnip’s 1,200 worker capacity.
UNITE Here also represents workers at the Crossroads and Cedar Valley Lodges in Kitimat, who dodged their own strikes after reaching agreements earlier this year.
