Heavy rain helped wildfire crews make progress yesterday, with most of the Northwest Fire Centre’s 68 active blazes now being held.
An evacuation alert near where Highway 37 crosses the Yukon border has now been completely lifted, after being dropped from an order earlier.
Meanwhile, an order which had been in place around the Omineca Provincial Park and south to Highway 27 has been reduced to an alert.
Orders remain in place where the Nadina River meets Francois Lake, and around Lucas Lake on the east end of the Nechako Reservoir.
More orders are covering the Tatuk Lake area east of there, and the Great Beaver and Noonlang Lake areas north of Vanderhoof and west of Highway 97.
Alerts also cover an area just south of Houston, and around Marilla along the north side of Ootsa Lake.
Fire danger ratings are down to low and very low for inland and coastal sections of the northcoast, but hit moderate and high in the Nechako.
