With rain helping to get most wildfires in the region under control recently, the BC Wildfire Service is lifting some burning restrictions in the area.
Category two and three open fires are once again permitted in the Cassiar, Skeena and Bulkley Fire Zones as of noon today.
But, they will remain prohibited in the Nadina Fire Zone, where the Service is instead lifting a campfire ban which had been in place.
Category two fires include burn piles no larger than two metres high by three metres wide, and stubble or grass fires of less than 0.2 hectares.
Those wishing to start any blaze larger than that will need to first obtain a burn registration number for a Category three fire by calling 1 888 797 1717.
Meanwhile, campfires include those covering no more than half a metre by half a metre.
