Consistent rain for the first time in months has allowed crews to make progress on most of the province’s 330 active wildfires.
Most of those are now either being held or under control, with the 2023 wildfire season now doubling the next closest in terms of hectares burned.
Evacuation orders remain for the Lucas Lake area southwest of Fort Fraser, and around Tatuk Lake south of Vanderhoof.
North of there and east of Fort St James, an order in the Great Beaver Lake area has been reduced, but remains in effect.
Meanwhile, an order which had been in place just north of there around Noonlang Lake, has been reduced to an alert.
Alerts also remain south of Houston, where the Nadina River meets Francois Lake, around Marilla on the north side of Ootsa Lake, and around the Omineca Provincial Park.
