Persistant rain and cooler temperatures in recent days has helped crews start to get the worst wildfire season in BC’s history under control.
As a result, all evacuation orders which had been in place in the Northwest Fire Centre have been lifted, though some alerts remain in effect.
Previous orders around Lucas Lake southwest of Fort Fraser and Tatuk Lake south of Vanderhoof have been replaced with alerts.
North of there, orders have also been reduced to alerts in the Noonlang Lake and Great Beaver Lake areas, west of Highway 97.
Meanwhile, alerts covering the area around the Omineca Provincial Park and where the Nadina River meets Francois Lake are unchanged.
Alerts which had been in place south of Houston and around Marilla along the north side of Ootsa Lake have now been fully rescinded.
All open burning is allowed in the Northwest once again as of Tuesday, though category three burns still require prior registration.
Fire danger ratings are at low or very low across the region, but do hit moderate in portions of the Nechako.
