City West customers on Haida Gwaii will experience a reduction in services today as crews work to repair their main connection.
A fibre break in a subsea cable from Monday night has forced the company to switch to their back up link across the Hecate Strait.
As a result, customers will experience slower than usual internet speed and latency on phone services, and Stream TV will be unavailable.
While the cause of the break is still unclear, initial investigations have indicated it may have been caused by unsanctioned fishing activities.
Crews have located the break and are awaiting favourable weather conditions to conduct repairs today.
