A man who injured two after opening fire during the Williams Lake Stampede in 2022 has been sentenced to just over 7 years in jail.
34 year-old Jordell Sellars had initially faced several charges, including one for attempted murder, but would only end up pleading guilty to four.
Those included two counts of aggravated assault, one of discharging a firearm with intent to wound, and one of possession of a restricted firearm.
Sellars has now been found guilty of all four of those counts, and sentenced to 9 years in jail, which was dropped to 7 years and 10 days for time served.
Judge Scott Mulder took Sellar’s traumatic past, which a Gladue Report revealed included the deaths of several friends and family members, into account in issuing the ruling.
