The Kermode Friendship Society in Terrace hosted to two Indigenous Canadian actors on Tuesday at an event featuring Indigenous storytelling, acting and filmmaking.
Alyssa Wapanatâhk, who played Tigger Lilly in Disney’s live action Peter Pan & Wendy and Curtis Pilon-Vinish, who was in Disney’s Prey, came to town to share their experiences and engage with Indigenous youth.
They discussed their motivation to share stories and the importance of role models, stating that role models play a crucial role in guiding and supporting young people as they navigate challenges and seek their identity and belonging.
Wapanatâhk spoke about her intense upbringing and her healing journey, while Pilon-Vinish talked about the need for support and the challenges faced by young people.
