The Province has announced an $8 million funding boost for the Clean Coast, Clean Waters (CCCW) initiative, targeting 17 new projects for 2024. This funding supports local and First Nations-led efforts to combat marine debris and plastic pollution along B.C.’s coastlines.

– Highlander Marine Services: $631,000
– Rugged Coast Research Society: $464,000
– Lax Kw’alaams Fishing Enterprises: $498,000
– Metlakatla Stewardship Office: $514,000
– K’yuu Enterprise Corporation: $750,000
– Wilderness Tourism Association: $749,000
The projects aim to clean 1,900 kilometers of shoreline, remove at least 31 derelict vessels, and address six derelict aquaculture sites, creating 639 new jobs. This initiative aligns with the Province’s Coastal Marine Strategy and supports ongoing environmental and economic efforts.
