The Northern Rockies RCMP in Fort Nelson are seeking public assistance in locating missing hiker Sam Benastick. Reported missing by his family on October 19th, Benastick, an experienced hiker and camper, has not been heard from since October 8th. He was camping in Redfern Kiely Park, near Highway 97, and was expected to return by October 17th.
Benastick is known to carry a tarp and a black Osprey backpack with red strings. His family is concerned, as this behavior is out of character for him. Search and Rescue teams, along with the Police Dog Services Unit, have been deployed to aid in the search efforts.
