The RCMP has dismantled an organized crime group on Vancouver Island, arresting six suspects involved in the distribution of counterfeit cannabis-laced edibles and other illegal substances. On October 3, investigators executed search warrants at two dispensaries and several residences, leading to significant seizures.
Authorities confiscated over 120,000 cannabis edibles, including chocolate bars and chips resembling popular brands, along with large quantities of psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis products, and contraband tobacco. They also seized cash, vehicles, and firearms.
The conditions under which these counterfeit products were made raised serious public health concerns, as they were produced in unsanitary environments. The investigation is ongoing, with more charges expected as the RCMP continues to pursue this case.
