Purolator and UPS have temporarily suspended shipments from some partners as they grapple with a backlog of deliveries during the ongoing Canada Post strike.
Purolator, owned by Canada Post, says its network is facing disruptions due to severe weather and a surge in volume.
The company has paused services to certain third-party platforms to protect its network and prioritize critical shipments.
It plans to resume normal operations as soon as possible.
Couriers like eShipper, which connect smaller e-commerce businesses with major carriers, are among those affected.
Combined with the Canada Post strike, these suspensions are leaving Canadians with fewer and often pricier delivery options during the peak holiday season.
The U.S. Postal Service has also halted Canada-bound mail due to the strike, asking customers to hold off on sending items until further notice.
Now in its fourth week, the Canada Post strike continues to impact businesses and consumers nationwide, costing millions of dollars each day with no resolution in sight.
