Prince Rupert residents may notice discoloured water as the City completes essential upgrades to the water system. Crews are flushing fire hydrants in affected areas to improve water clarity and flow.
The issue is linked to recent work isolating sections of the water main as part of the BIG Project, including valve adjustments on the east side of town. Residents can help clear their water by running their largest tap, such as a bathtub faucet, for several minutes.
These upgrades are a key step toward lifting the ongoing Boil Water Notice. The City will conduct water quality testing over the next week, following Northern Health guidelines, to determine if the notice can be removed.
Officials thank the community for their patience as work continues to improve Prince Rupert’s water supply.
