Lakes District Hospital Emergency Services Temporarily Interrupted

Residents of Burns Lake and surrounding areas are being advised that the Emergency Department at Lakes District Hospital will be temporarily closed from 3:00 PM today (Tuesday) until 8:00 AM Wednesday morning, due to staffing challenges. Anyone needing urgent, life-threatening care, such as chest pain or severe bleeding, should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available facility. For non-urgent medical needs, the Northern Health Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic is available from 10 AM to 10 PM daily. Indigenous people can access the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program. Additionally, HealthLink BC is available 24/7 at 8-1-1 for advice from nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists. Residents are urged to stay informed and continue supporting healthcare staff during this temporary interruption.
