Residents of Burns Lake and surrounding areas are advised that the Emergency Department at Lakes District Hospital will be closed from midnight tonight, March 14, until 8 a.m. Saturday, March 15, due to staffing challenges.
During this time, those experiencing life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pain, breathing difficulties, or severe bleeding, should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest appropriate facility. For non-urgent care, individuals can access the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program is also available for Indigenous people, and Northern BC residents can book appointments with a pharmacist for minor ailments or contraceptives.
For health advice or to determine if an emergency room visit is needed, residents can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1. Health services are notified and signage will be posted at the hospital.
