The Kyah Wiget Education Society says crews are making progress to clean up after flooding at Moricetown Elementary Secondary School.
But officials say the Witsuwit’en Child and Family Centre will remain closed pending completion of electrical work. It’s hoped that the daycare will reopen Thursday.
Staff are still planning to hold classes for students in a temporary space by Friday, January 12. Classes will end at noon that day in respect of a village funeral that afternoon.
KWES says it hopes to be able to offer regular daycare spaces and temporary classroom spaces for all students by next Monday.
Officials say all of the wet material has been removed from school after long hours from both Universal Restoration Systems and Kyah Wiget Cleaning Services.
The school was flooded last week when a four inch pipe feeding the sprinkler system ruptured.
The Kyah Wiget Education Society says once an environmental monitor advises it on any contaminants, the process of restoration and rebuilding will begin.
