RCMP, fire officials, and the BC Coroners Service are investigating a fatal fire in a First Nations community near Williams Lake.
Williams Lake RCMP and the 150 Mile Fire Department were called to a fire on the Sugarcane Reserve, a community of the T’exelc (Williams Lake Band), at about 7:35 Tuesday morning.
Fire crews battling the blaze found a deceased person and notified police and the coroner.
The investigation is in its early stages. A specially trained fire investigator will be called in to assist once the scene is safe and the fire has been completely extinguished
states Constable Andrew Waters, Media Relations Officer for the Williams Lake RCMP.
At this point, RCMP say there is no clear cause for the fire.
