Environment Canada says the temperature at Dease Lake is expected to remain near minus 40 degrees tonight.
Combined with the light wind, forecasters say that will result in windchill values below minus 45.
The weather office has issued an extreme cold warning for the region.
Temperatures are expected to moderate Thursday, but only slightly.
