The Port of Prince Rupert has officially broken ground on the Atlin Promenade project.
the new walkway will improve the connection between the Northland Cruise Terminal and the Cow Bay District.
Communications Coordinator for the Port of Prince Rupert, Kris Schumacher says Prince Rupert residents and the port is excited the building is underway and looks forward to having the project completed prior to the first cruise ship arrival this coming May.
Director of Public Affairs with the Port of Prince Rupert Ken Veldman says this project is a part of the Cowbay Development Vision after consulting with the community on how certain areas under the Port Authoirties Divison could be improved.
A major part of the vision was to have residents and tourists be able to enjoy accessibility to oceanfront walkways.
The first steps in the cities visionary project were redesigning the parking lot across from the terminal.
