Staff and students at Skeena Middle School in Terrace are safe.
That’s the message in a letter to parents from the Principal and Vice Principal after a verbal threat was made against the school Tuesday.
A letter to parents and guardians does not reveal the nature of the threat, only that it was verbal and directed at the school.
School officials say the RCMP were called to investigate, police determined there was no intent to act on the threat, and that there is no risk to the school.
The school has activated its multi-disciplinary Violence Threat Risk Assessment and contacted the Ministry of Education as part of its response to the incident.
Administration says students and staff have been informed and that counselling is available to students if they need to talk with someone.
