A member of the Gitxsan Nation has been appointed the Board of Directors of the Prince Rupert Port Authority.
Beverley Clifton Percival, who as worked at Northwest Community College, the Gitxsan Treaty Society, and currently as health director for the Witset First Nation, will serve a three-year term on the board.
“The safe and responsible development of industry in northern British Columbia is something that I have been actively engaged in for the last decade. I am excited to bring my personal and professional experience to the board of the Prince Rupert Port Authority and help guide the growth and development of the Port of Prince Rupert in years to come,” said Ms. Clifton Percival in a news release.
Board chair Bud Smith says Clifton Percival’s experience in progressive roles with Indigenous organizations in the region will be an invaluable addition to the port’s governance team.
Clifton Percival fills the vacancy left by the late Elmer Derrick.
