RCMP say slippery road conditions were a factor in a crash that closed Highway 16 east of Smithers Thursday night.
Corporal Madonna Saunderson says the vehicle struck a pole shortly after 8:30. The crash brought down power lines, leaving about 1200 BC Hydro customers in the dark for a couple of hours.
Saunderson says there were no injuries and investigators say speed and alcohol are not considered factors.
Highway 16 was reopened to single-lane alternating traffic shortly after 11:00 pm and was fully reopened early Friday morning.
Hydro says most of its customers had power restored at approximately 10:30 pm Thursday night.
