Terrace RCMP says their May Long Weekend enforcement will be strict.
After last year’s long weekend of parties and related incidents, the detachment has decided to team up with Kitimat RCMP, Conservation Officer Service, park rangers, and DFO to ramp up patrols.
Last year’s May Long Weekend saw issues surrounding partying, underage drinking, and other problems that come with those behaviours,
says Constable Crystal Evelyn, Terrace RCMP. Because of that, we will be out in full force doing strict enforcement especially at Furlong Bay and the recreational sites.
Mounties say those not obeying the rules, particularly surrounding liquor offences, will be asked to leave rec sites.
Guardians of minors will be contacted to remove their children from the park should they be found committing a criminal or provincial offence.
