The BC Liberals say the province’s new bus service for rural and northern BC is a good first step.
But the party’s northern MLAs worry that a more long term solution remains uncertain.
Skeena MLA Ellis Ross is concerned that BC Bus North wil only accept credit cards for payment, which could be a problem for low income residents that don’t have a card or access to other transportation.
Ross also notes that Kitimat has been left out of the scheduled trips between Prince Rupert and Prince George.
Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad says the $2 million cost to BC Transit may not be recouped through other transit fares.
He’s concerned the government does not appear to have much support for what he calls a “real transportation solution”.
