The BC government has announced $550 million dollars over ten years to create 1750 new homes for Indigenous people on and off reserve.
Premier John Horgan made the announcement at the Prince George Native Friendship Centre in Prince George Monday morning.
Housing Minister Selena Robinson says her ministry will work with First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous housing providers to create the new homes.
BC Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief Terry Teegee says the plan will offer help to those facing overcrowding and homelessness.
Teegee says there are hundreds of homes needed in his home community and surrounding First Nations.
