Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Prince George today to speak with wildfire first responders and evacuees.
When asked whether Federal support was needed to combat wildfires, Trudeau responded by saying that the federal government is there when necessary, but that for now provincial crews are more than capable.
The Prime Minister also downplayed the need for federal funding, saying that you fight fires with equipment and personnel, not with money.
Trudeau also had discussions with First Nations regarding funding their efforts to fight wildfires on their territories, which the Prime Minister said has put him on the path to better understanding their needs.
