The City of Prince Rupert will be sending a letter to Ottawa over the federal government’s plan to put Ridley Terminals up for sale.
Council passed a motionTuesday evening to have city staff draft a letter indicating the City’s opposition to the sale.
Mayor Lee Brain summed up the motion before council voted unanimously in favour of it.
The federal government announced plans to sell the Crown-owned coal terminal to a private sector operator in August.
Ottawa said at the time that it was consulting with six area First Nations on the sale process to commence in the fall.
