Housing costs were the big topic during the first day of the Union of BC Municipalities Convention in Whistler yesterday.
Local government representatives, who have gathered for the 5 day conference, are calling for both provincial and municipal branches of government to work together to solve the housing affordability problem.
As a result, UBCM will be submitting a request to the province asking it to work with local governments towards the publishing of data to hold shell companies and blind trusts accountable.
A housing forum, which discussed additional strategies local governments could use was also held yesterday.
Day two of the conference goes today.
